Supporting The Arts In The Burlington Area
Our Mission
The Burlington Fine Arts League is organized to support and promote the arts in the Des Moines County area.
The league provides financial support through scholarships and by contributions to art related projects of local organizations.
It is the expressed mission of the Burlington Fine Arts League members to insure the arts for the future of our community through our personal involvement and financial support of area arts related organizations, thereby the preservation of the arts and history of the past.
About Us
The Fine Arts League is a tax exempt organization whose major function is to support the arts in the Des Moines County area. Our major fund-raiser is the Fine Arts GALA, an elegant auction which initiates the holiday season with flair. The evening begins with a silent auction and proceeds with live auction.
Those who attend the auction in their holiday finery have the opportunity to bid on trips, antiques, furs, condo vacations, parties, decorating, landscaping, cashmere, boat trips, exceptional art work, jewelry and much more. Where else can you spend a fun filled evening bidding on the one-of-a-kind gifts not found anywhere else?
This is an evening for being with friends, old and new. Bidding, winning, and dining all combine to provide a fun filled, festive evening that is a benefit to all who use the arts in Des Moines County.
In 2010 the Fine Arts League raised over $50,000 at the GALA for distribution in 2011. This year approximately $20,000 has been awarded as scholarships to students from all over the Des Moines County area. We also contributed over $30,000 to art related organizations, events and school activities. The Fine Arts League takes great pride in investing in our community's effort to maintain and expand the arts.
100% of the money raised at GALA us donated back to the community...40% is given as scholarships, 50% goes to local requests for major projects and 10% for special request projects which are distributed throughout the year.
